Family Law, Criminal Law, & Legal Documents
A family is a complicated unit and when problems arise they are not cut and dry. Emotional distress is almost always involved and crude application of the law is not all that is necessary. Suffering family members must be gently apprised of their choices and guided into making the right ones.
A good attorney has to be aware that decisions made under duress are not always the best ones. Sometimes there is even a need to be a peacemaker between feuding family members. Jennifer is particularly adept at this. It’s not only her knowledge and experience, she cares about her clients.
Jennifer got her law degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and began private practice in 2010. She has since primarily focused on family law (divorce, custody, visitation, child support, adoption, grandparent’s rights), and handled some criminal defense and general practice areas, such as power of attorney and will drafting. Jennifer has acted as a Guardian ad litem in McCracken County for countless children, most of which have been neglected and abused. She is passionate about helping children and attempt to help her divorce/custody clients see past their own anger/resentment toward their ex and to act in their children’s best interests.
If you are from Smithland (Livingston County) and in need of any legal assistance from an attorney who knows the law call us now!
Jennifer is not your typical attorney. She is not one of many lawyers in a huge law firm with high overhead and outrageous fees. Jennifer is a highly experienced lawyer specializing in family law and its related fields of divorce, child custody, enforcement, visitation, adoption and mediation, and criminal law including common offenses like DUI, or driving under the influence (of alcohol or drugs).
For Jennifer, the legal practice is a very personal one. It’s not simply her experience and understanding of the law and procedure but also her ability to impart her insight, sensitivity, and compassion for the pain caused by the problems that go with family stress and individuals charged with a crime.
Legal issues that involve relationships between members of a family and/or the relationship of a family to another and the society at large.
As a parent herself, Jennifer is especially sensitive to the highly emotional nature of the adoption process and takes a hands on approach in guiding families through this process.
